Now that the summer holidays are nearly over our thoughts are heading towards Christmas! (sorry – no stopping it now!) And all we will hear talk of soon will be how many weeks or shopping days we have left till Christmas! It is, of course, our busiest time of year here at Rustic Angels HQ and we love it but this year I am taking a different stance on the whole Crimbo thing and have lined up a very leisurely (cheap) approach to Christmas shopping and the inevitable rush on the high street.
Anyone who knows me will tell you how happy I am when I am making something! It doesn’t matter what it is – the more crafty the better – and I often have such lovely ideas for gifts for people that never get made. Before I know it it is a week or two before Christmas, I’m rushed off my feet and that lovely gift for mum, sister or gran has been forgotten about in favour of something bought at the last minute. There is also nothing more satisfying than ticking off your Christmas list and knowing you have made something unique that will be treasured and appreciated.
So often now, I hear of people who have set a budget on their spending for family members and even more so now people are doing secret santas at their places of work – just to keep the costs down. People are just not being so frivilous with their money – in favour of making gifts that they know the other person would love to receive.
With this in mind I have 15 wonderful makes (1 a week) starting from September 3rd (sat) which will take us up to the middle of December. This will really get your Christmas off to a leisurely but crafty start! I know not everyone likes sewing (or indeed has a sewing machine) so only one or two projects require sewing (albeit really easy), and the other projects really are childs play. The kids will also love to be involved so get them to help you and put aside a weekend or 2 and have some fun!!
Just to tantalise you the first week kicks off with decorative coasters. If you’ve got some small square tiles lurking around the shed they will be perfect to use or pick some up cheaply from a local DIY store. If you see any cheap coasters at a boot fair or flea market grab them – you’ll be amazed how nice they will end up!
All our makes will be announced weekly on facebook so to be kept informed please join us on facebook at Rustic Angels. Please send us pics of your ‘makes’, not only does it give us inspiration it will inspire others and we will be sending a free gift to the person who has been the most inspiring!
If you have a Christmas gift make you would like to share with us we would love to hear from you. If we use your idea we will send you a free gift!
And remember our motto for this Crimbo is – Happy crafting leads to a Happy Christmas!!
