If you live in the local area you can find some of our range of gorgeous gifts and accessories on sale at Fanny's Farm Shop in Merstham. The farm shop was initially started by Fanny Maiklem to sell her excess garden produce. The past 25 years has seen the Shop evolve into a collection of shops and outbuildings that are all run as a family business. Fanny lives adjacent to the farm shop in the Lodge with was once the gate-house to Upper Gatton House, built by Sir Jeremiah Colman, the Mustard Baron.
The farm shop now boasts a fantastic flower shop which is run by Nellie (Fanny's daughter) , rows and rows of numerous flavours of jams, chutneys and marmalades and a quaint tearoom which are located in three former poultry sheds. Visitors can pop into Fanny's for a quick look round but will end up staying for a cup of coffee or tea with a piece of cake, a ploughman's lunch or a delicious cream tea with home made scones and jam before leaving with bags full of fresh vegetables, home-made winning marmalade and a gorgeous shabby chic gift from Rustic Angels!
There is a lovely range of fresh fruit and vegetables displayed on brightly-painted traditional market barrows along with fresh bread and cakes from local bakers, honey from Fanny's own hives, free-range eggs, cakes and bric-a-brac. Fanny's Farm sell their own home grown produce but also sell produce from 25 local growers and farmers.
There is also livestock at Fanny's in the shape of some big fat chickens laying gorgeous free range eggs (you can take an egg box and pick your own eggs straight from the chicken coop) and a new addition of 2 baby pot bellied pigs who are 12 weeks old called Eric and Ernie. (We hoped to bring you a picture of Eric and Ernie but they were in hiding when we went to take some pics!) There are some very quirky things up at Fanny's including the fishnet stockinged legs in the great big flower pot.
Fanny herself is quite a character, and broadcasts a regular national radio item on country living.
So if you've got a few hours to spare take a trip to Fanny's Farm and wrap yourself in the nostalgia and quirkiness that permeate the shop.
