We love the humble cake stand here at Rustic Angels and now it’s official – the cake stand is back in vogue in a huge way!!
This article was in the Daily Express on 3rd Octber 2011 -
“The world economy is in disarray. The weather can’t decide what season it should be. But you can rely on the British love of tea and a nice slice of home-made cake.
Figures yesterday showed that sales of classic baking kit and afternoon tea sets are enjoying a resurgence – and they have been boosted by a cult BBC cookery show.
The revived interest in baking also fits with a long-held theory that sweet foods are popular during periods of recession”
Our vintage cake stand make (Week 4) couldn’t have been more well timed. If you haven’t made a cake stand yet we have some lovely ones for sale at Rustic Angels.
Hi Guys,
Week 4 Christmas Make is up!
Transform jumble sale crockery into the latest homestyle vintage trend with our step by step guide.
Have you joined the latest craze of Upcycling yet? It is the art of taking something old or unwanted, and improving it by turning it into something decorative, unique and useful. We’ve embraced it enthusiastically here i the cabin, turning old and faded household furniture and oddments into gorgeous new pieces. Have a look at Tracey’s article and pictures of recent upcycling projects for inspiration! Happy upcycling!
We’ve just received these gorgeous little old fashioned glass dishes with pinked edges. Don’t they look like something your granny would have had. Love them!
Fill them with little sweets, bits and bobs or jewellery.
Or I am going to fill some with wax to make some old fashioned tea lights for Crimbo….
They are only £3.95 at Rustic Angels.
We all know in the Rustic Angels Cabin that our marketing guru Lauren’s a bit of a drama queen, but last night she excelled herself by taking part in a local drama production of a 1940′s set comedy Murdered to Death at The Courtyard Theatre in Chipstead.
We were there to support her, and just loved all the retro staging and the fantastic 1940′s costumes! Lauren had a very glam part to play, and definitely looked the part in her gorgeous outfits. We went backstage to get these sneaky pics of her in one slinky outfit, complete with Hollywood Starlet hairstyle & makeup, taken on the “country manor house sitting room” stage set.
Well done to Lauren and all the cast on their great performances, and a very fun night.
I set off bright and early this morning with my youngest, Chloe, to attend Pfizer’s Yearly Family Barbeque which raises funds for Tadworth Court Childrens’ Hopsital. They certainly picked the right day as the sun was shining and there was hardly a cloud in the sky.
There was, of course, the cupcake lady and it would have been really rude not to try one…. yum yum!!
There was a classic competition and the cars that came were absolutely amazing…..
This was my favourite (probably because it’s my favourite colour!) and this little one was dead cute….
And these…..
I had never seen anything like this one before…..
And this one couldn’t fail to catch your eye!
And what about this as a Wedding Car – brilliant!!
But the winner was – you guessed it – a pink cadillac….. gorgeous
There was also the deli from The Jolly Farmers Pub who had loads of handmade jellies, chutneys, chocolate and drinks. Having sampled every jelly (well you have to be sure!) we settled on a jar of Lavender Jelly which goes down really well with crackers and cheese….
Our new mugs went down very well too…
and as it was so hot we had to have the obligatory icecream…. with sprinkles of course!
We had a lovely day – we met some lovely people, saw some amazing things and we hope that a lot of money was raised for Tadworth Court.
I am now going away to take the dog on a very long walk to burn off all these calories……
We are thrilled to learn that according to Cover Media Victoria Beckham has spared no expense kitting out a “shabby chic” nursery for her first baby girl.
The British star is preparing for the birth of her longed-for daughter, and is making sure her Los Angeles home is ready for the anticipated new arrival.
Victoria, who already has three sons; 12-year-old Brooklyn, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six with her soccer star husband David, is creating a “girlie” nursery, and is using her designer eye to its full potential.
“The nursery is ready and is a girlie overload! It’s very tasteful – mostly cream with dashes of pink and every detail has been thought of,” a source told Closer magazine. “The design is ‘shabby chic’ with French-inspired furniture. This baby will have the finest of everything.”
Sources have revealed Victoria sought advice from her fashionista friend Rachel Zoe, who gave birth to her son Skylar in March. Rachel, 39, recommended the exclusive Petit Tresor boutique because she was impressed with their gorgeous designer furniture.
Victoria has already filled a wardrobe full of clothes according to one source.
“Rachel bought most of her nursery furniture there. Victoria fell in love with it and splashed out on a £549 bassinet crib, a £1,584 changing table and a chaise lounge. She also got three teddy bears,” a source explained. “One of the stunning pieces is a £1,825 cream wardrobe with bunnies engraved into the frame, which Vic has filled! She has already bought a few pieces in New York and online, plus she got loads of presents at her baby shower in May. She’s so excited.”
We are hoping that Victoria might contact us for some lovely accessories to add to her babies room – you never know…..
