Give an old chair a new home…

Having just decorated my bedroom I decided that I needed a nice chair to fill a rather lonely corner  so I went to my friendly upholsterers….

and there hanging from the rafters in their workshop and feeling very sorry for itself was this wonderful old wingback chair…..

Structurally it was sound but the upholstery had seen better days and it didn’t have a seat pad….

so there was nothing for it but bring this chair back to life and give it a makeover…

I chose a lovely Villa Nova fabric from their Misaki range which has different colour large pink velour spots on a dark brown background – very opulent….

and we added some silver tacks for added elegance.  I used some fabric I had left from the eylet curtains that I had made to make a cushion…..

and tada!!

A beautiful solid old wingbacked chair bought back to life with a little tlc.

If you are lucky enough to come across old furniture on your travels think of the possibility of upcycling it and giving it a new lease of life.  Furniture was made so much sturdier in the olden days from master craftsmen and given care this chair will go on giving pleasure for many years to come….

looks really lovely Trace. So is this a new line. I have a sad looking wing back chair sitting here needing care. How much are you charging if this is the case? xx

      Hi Deb
This is something that we have always done so if your need your wing back chair bought back to life that’s not a problem. Costings wise – difficult to say – it all depends on which fabric you choose and then there is my upholsters labour costs – they are not cheap but are brilliant! They would need to see a pic of the chair to give a labour costing as it all depends on if it needs a new seat pad, re-stuffing, etc.
Perhaps you can send me a pic and we can then have a chat about it.
      See you soon
      Trace x
