A transmission fluid change, and even a filter change along with it, may not resolve your shifting problem. There are other elements, including speed sensors, linkages and other components that should be examined. For the home mechanic, checking fluid level, color and smell - as shown on this video- is recommended. Beyond that, you should take the vehicle for a? diagnosis? at a professional shop like TNS Transmissions in Hales Corners, WI.

Hi, I have a 1999 Chevrolet? Suburban 1500. The problem I have is the shifting, the motor accelerates but doesn't speed up properly (or is not shifting properly). I checked my dip stick while it's running and it's over at its level line ''HOT''. I'm in an isolated community that doesn't have any shops around. Should there be a filter to change if I have to change the trans oil? And how many quarts oil I should need to put in for its proper level? Anything would be helpful at this time. Thanks

With that mileage, signs of wear are normal. Was there a lolly pop piece in the pan, that would indicate the first time the pan was dropped ( factory assembly tool) in most Ford rear wheel drive transmissions. If It works good leave it and drive it. If you experence problems call TNS and we could evaluate it? to see if you need any further work done. "Like" us on Facebook @ TNS Transmissions, LLC!

I have a 94 4R70W trans I just dropped the pan and put in a new filter and pan(96+ pan)on.The fluid was red but very dark. There was some grey stuff in the old pan and on magnet. The trans still shifts good but should I flush it out or just leave it?. It's going on 130.000 miles or should I look for the better 99+ 4R70W trans and put a Mercury? Marauder TC in there. It's a 94 Lincoln Mark VIII. Thanks

Most vehicles are checked with the vehicle in park, and the engine at normal operating temperature. This is the most common and recommended procedure as was shown on the video. Some dipsticks, especially on newer? vehicles have an indicator for checking the fluid level while the vehicle is not running-typically at ambient temperatures around 65 degrees F. Consult your particular vehicle owner's manual if your in doubt. TNS recommends checking with the engine running, and the vehicle in park.

Thanks for your question. This symptom could be one of multiple problems. The first thing that comes to mind is a broken servo snap ring, which is fixable in the vehicle. Next is direct clutch burn up. This is not good and would require a transmission overhaul. Bad solenoids could also be a possiblility, but not common. I would need to see the vehicle at our shop to correctly? diagnose it. Tim Schmidbauer/Owner TNS Transmissions

First, make sure you've inspected your transmission fluid- for correct? level and color- as detailed on this video. Your thought is correct, the speed sensor can be a culprit and often causes inaccurate shifting. Other elements can be at play though, and the best solution is to bring your vehicle into TNS Transmissions LLC, to conduct a full diagnostic. Continued driving will eventually cause a total failure, towing, or worse.

hi, my car is VW Golf GL 1999 with auto transmission. The transmission takes long time to shift from 2nd to third, or 3rd to fourth, even when the rpm is more than 3000. What could be the problem? is it about to die as one of my friends suggested, or is? it merely a sensor problem? And what's the consequences if I keep driving the car like this without fixing the problem? Thanks in advance for the answer!

Thanks for your question. It? would be best for you to contact TNS transmissions, by phone, their website, or you can join their Facebook page. If you live in the area, you can visit TNS Transmissions, in person. Light brown indicates the fluid is old or worn, and a fluid change may be appropriate. Fluid that looks like cherry soda indicates "new" or "good" condition. Your light brown fluid may operate fine for months though. Contact the experts at TNS for the best recommendations.

I recently bought a car with 112k miles it shifts smooth and runs great but I notice my transmission fluid is light brown. Does this mean the fluid needs? to be changed or there is something wrong?
